CATWALK
As part of the RE:Fashion ceremony in November, leading designers created iconic, one-off designs for a catwalk showcase.
The designers worked with fabrics and components sourced from Africa through a United Nations ethical fashion initiative called Africa Inspires. Alongside this designers worked with recycled and reclaimed materials to create the exclusive designs which will be shown on the catwalk at the RE:Fashion awards.
These designs focused on the high value, designer and luxury goods sector. This sector is able to command higher premiums, as it requires small to medium as opposed to mass production capacities, thus allowing market access for unique and handcrafted items. It will therefore be ideal to make direct trade links with small scale businesses and organisations in Africa directly impacting poverty.
