Steve Trent
Founding Director of WildAid and Environmental Justice

Steve Trent is a Founding Director of both the Environmental Justice Foundation (UK) and WildAid. The Environmental Justice Foundation is dedicated to protecting people and planet and campaigns to defend the human rights and environmental security of the world’s most vulnerable people. Steve has over 20 years experience in environmental advocacy, investigations, training and project management. He has conducted investigations and trained environmental and human rights advocates in over 20 countries across the globe, including China, India, Bangladesh, Ecuador, Indonesia, Cambodia and Vietnam; and he has managed media campaigns in more than 15 countries. Steve has been involved in campaigns on cotton production, highlighting issues such as widespread forced child labour and the depletion of the Aral sea, as well as marine issues, the illegal trade in ozone-depleting substances, illegal wildlife trade and illegal logging, orangutan conservation and environmental governance issues in Indonesia. His advocacy experience includes US Congress, European Parliament and Commission, national governments and at a range of international conventions, including the Montreal Protocol, International Whaling Commission and CITES. As head of the EJF Cotton Campaign, Steve has overseen the production of campaign reports and video, and coordinated the media strategy, and corporate and political advocacy in Europe.
